"butbutbut I want to see the show!"

mother duck shook her head and quacked quietly. Of all her ducklings these two were the most difficult! they didn't want to miss a thing.

"It's pretty late..."

"no mum! I want to stay up! I want to see swan lake!"

she could see her little ducklings were well past tired and into tantrum mode. While her instincts were just to tuck them underneath her, with their other brothers and sisters, she really didn't want the rest to wake up.

Sighing deeply, she ushered them closer. "Fine, you can stay up."

Doing a mini chicken dance of glee, the two toddled over to their mother, nestling amongst her chest feathers for warmth. It wasn't long before she heard their excited chatter still, their breathing deepen and - ah! there it was. the little breathy snores of deep sleep. The two had nestled together. Although the show hadn't started, with a contented smile she tucked them underneath her feathers.
